Engineering Support for the development of subsea harvesting vehicle
Auxilium Offshore was extensively involved in the research, development and operation of the Tracked Soil Testing Device (TSTD) Patania I of GSR.
The vehicle was developed to gather critical soil performance data that is crucial in the development of responsible exploration and exploitation of polymetallic nodules. Patania I is the first of a series of three vehicles that will validate environmental performance in the deep sea.
A new milestone was achieved with the successful in-situ deployment of the TSTD Patania I at an astonishing 4500m-water depth in the NE Pacific Ocean in June 2017
