Touchdown Monitoring System (subsea cable installation)
The system is under development for accurate installation and positioning of power cables. It is suspended around the cable near the touch down point. By real-time monitoring X, Y, Z position and Pitch, Altitude & Water depth the software extrapolates the cable position to define the touch down point.
The system can be extended with pre-survey/obstacle avoidance sonar, cameras and lighting.
Reduction of ROV spread for touch down monitoring;
More precise, real-time, visualization of true touch down point than provided by standalone USBL based ROV position;
With “ad on” multibeam profiling sonar, provide means of generating pre-lay bathymetric survey immediately prior to touchdown.
